Pollinators!

These amazing creatures move from plant to plant helping to transport and exchange genetic information to aid in reproduction of seeds and fruits.
Pollinators are crucial for both biodiversity and healthy food webs!
Fact: A major threat to pollinators is pesticide use. In targeting crop-damaging pests, valuable pollinators are killed as well.

Pollinators are present in all ecosystems, from salt marshes, to prairies, to mountains to wetlands. They are also frequent visitors on the farm.
Our farm manager, Deedee shared with us 5 herbs that are exceptionally great in attracting pollinators on the St. Francis Herb Farm!

Our Top 5 Pollinator Herbs:

You can do your part to support pollinators and their habitats! Avoiding pesticide use, planting native species and leaving dead leaves and debris for pollinators to overwinter can all help to support their populations. Also, advocating for the protection of wild habitats can make a difference in keeping the pollinator populations strong!
